and I sat down to chat a little bit about our October 2024 trip to Ireland. Tune in to hear why Christy thought she didn’t like group travel (but her mind was completely changed after her first tour with Select), why Katie hated cruises in the 90s (it’s related, I promise), why whether you’re introverted or extroverted this itinerary is perfect for you, the mental freedom of taking a professionally planned trip, how pouring a proper Guinness is an important life skill, the gift of spending time with like-minded people, the highlights of the tour and the details on a great discount starting this week.

Taking the time to chat with Christy like this had me thinking how at the end of the day I truly am so excited for whatever group we get together for this trip. If you missed my recent post on friendship, this is really what I’m talking about. It’s why I wanted to do this: to take what is disembodied and one-dimensional and put us all out on in the Irish open air, together. Anam Cara. Soul friendship.

Of course the trip itself is incredible - if you’ve ever wanted to go to Ireland, or even if this is a return trip for you, I can’t imagine a more immersive, beautiful experience in this country. But this opportunity to meet fellow pilgrims is so unique - away from the stress of daily obligations, and even the stress of travel planning, to be truly, really present together… I just know it’s going to be amazing. I really hope you’ll join us.

I’m really promoting this trip heavily right now because

2) I know a lot of you are tech-lite luddites like me and are going to sign off for Lent (good for you!) and I’d like to get all this info out to you before then! :)

Just a few fine print details that might be important for you to note -

obviously hopefully you won't have any reason to cancel, but Select has pretty amazing travel protection plans so if you'd like to get your deposit down and ensure your spot on the trip, now is a great time to do that, worry-free. Plus you only pay your deposit now and the remainder isn’t due until August 2024.

Here’s the deal on that great promo: any two people who sign up together between February 14-21 will get a total $300 off their trip. No code needed - it will automatically apply when you sign up on these dates. Take your spouse, your friend, your mom, your sister, anyone! Just sign up together. This is a really incredible deal and I want everyone to be able to take advantage of it. If you’re a solo traveler willing to share a room, send Christy or me an email and we’ll see if we can connect you with a roommate so you can take advantage of the discount!

The group airfare price is pretty great but if you’re a bargain hunter when it comes to airfare, you can book sans air and find your own flight!

I’ve done a lot of traveling, and I have to tell you, the price of the trip is an incredible deal. Here’s what’s included: 8 nights in first class hotels, Irish breakfast daily, whiskey tasting, a group lunch, high tea (at a castle!!), Bunratty medieval dinner, Irish coffee demonstration, farewell dinner with music and dancing, three hotel dinners, private bus transportation, sheep herding demonstration, literary pub crawl tour through Dublin, Trinity College visit, all admission charges on the itinerary, baggage handling, professional local guides (and non-stop direct flights if you decide to do group air). Amazing.

We are going at the best possible time to visit Ireland. Early October in Ireland means mild weather, long days, and golden light through autumn leaves (don’t just take my word for it!). Not to mention fewer crowds, cheaper food and drinks, cheaper flights. All the magic of the Emerald Isle, none of the hassle. It’s going to be great.
