Lots to appreciate here -- thank you -- but "[...] when our neighbors saw a skeleton display and thought, yes, this needs to hang from my tree [...]" prompted a good chortle!
This is such a beautiful piece of writing, Katie! I think I read it last year too. :) Glad you re-shared it! There's so much to be said for seeking re-enchantment and wonder in a time of cynicism and distraction.
this feels like one of the truest extensions of that scene in pride and prejudice (2005), where lizzie is sitting on the swing and as she spins, the seasons come and go, another year passes by, and the idylls of life flash before her eyes. i adore this immensely; it reminds me so keenly of the life and situation that i hope to be able to raise a family in one day.
This is beautiful and rings so true for me too. Your New England-esque descriptions of the fall sound very Little Women to me. Thanks for always encouraging your readers to delight in the ordinary and the natural and see its beauty.
I have been listening to you talk about going to Ireland, and oh, how I've been dreaming of going with! It's not the right time for us, but I have to say every time you mention it I get excited. Maybe on the next trip!

I so loved this! And the bit about the night barn checks was my favorite!!

Have a great trip! I hope I'm able to join the next one :)
